How to install Google Assistant on Android Lollipop Device



Google Assistant was unveiled amid Google's developer event on May 18, 2016, which was at first restrictive to the Pixel and Pixel XL cell phones. In February 2017, Google reported that it had started to empower access to Assistant on Android cell phones running Android Marshmallow or Nougat. In this Article, I will show you how to Activate Google Assistant on your Android Lollipop device.

Note: Before doing this make sure all your Google App are up to date

Requirement: The only thing you will be needing for this is just your launcher [ NOVA LAUNCHER ]

Follow the step below to get a Google Assistant on your device.

  • Long press on any Empty area on your home screen to add a widget
  • Select widget
  • Under “Nova Launcher” tap and hold “Activities” and drag it to your home screen.

  • Scroll down and find the “Google App.”
  • Click on it to expand
  • Select " Google Assistant " 
Note: they may be more than one Google Assistant there, select the with this text content underneath

  • This will add a new “Google Assistant” icon to your home screen which is a shortcut to this activity.
  • Launch the App, You'll now end up in the new Assistant "explore" screen 

  • Swipe over to the “Your Stuff” tab up top
  • Tap on “Add Reminder” to trigger Google Assistant.
  • You’ll now be taken through the setup process. Teach it to recognize your voice, and you’re done
Now you can access Google Assistant by saying “OK Google

I've tested this on infinix [ hot 2 ] device running Android 5.1.1 and it worked perfectly. This should possibly work on any smartphones running Android Lollipop.
