Google Services and Apps Back Online After Global Outage

On Monday, December 12, 2020, a global outage abruptly disrupted almost all Google's services and apps, including Youtube, Gmail, Google Doc and many other. There were also reports that users couldn't log in to their Google accounts and were also unable to upload or transfer files using Google Drive.

The latest outage which seems to be more intensive than the last one apparently started at approximately 12:45 PM WAT, which impacted thousands of user worldwide. Fortunately, the outage was later resolved at around 2:00 PM WAT.

The reason for the technical issue is not publicly known. Google confirmed there was an outage for the majority of its services as stated on the Gmail status page: "The problem with Gmail should be resolved for the vast majority of affected users. We will continue to work towards restoring service for the remaining affected users, but no further updates will be provided on the Google Workspace Status Dashboard. Please rest assured that system reliability is a top priority at Google, and we are making continuous improvements to make our systems better."

"Gmail service has already been restored for some users, and we expect a resolution for all users in the near future. Please note this time frame is an estimate and may change," as stated in a post on its service status page.
